Who are Chiltern Speakers?

Chiltern Speakers is a Toastmasters club based in Chalfont St Peter. We currently meet in person and welcome anyone who wants to build confidence, improve their speaking skills and develop leadership capability — all in a supportive, encouraging environment.

We are proud to be a President’s Distinguished Club, an award from Toastmasters International recognising strong member progress, engagement and retention.

We’ve also been voted a Top 6 club in the District, which includes over 180 clubs.

Alongside members focused on personal development, our club includes experienced contributors at Area, Division and District level. For example:

Two club leaders received Excellent Contribution Awards at the District Conference

Three members progressed through multiple levels of the annual Toastmasters speaking contests

What happens at a meeting?

Our meetings follow a proven and engaging structure, including:

- Impromptu speaking practice (Table Topics)

- Prepared speeches

- Supportive evaluations designed to help speakers improve

Each meeting runs to a clear agenda and includes rotating roles such as Timekeeper, Grammarian, Table Topics Master, Speech Evaluators and the Toastmaster of the Evening. There’s also a break part-way through to chat and get to know other members.

From time to time we run special events, including speech contests or focused educational sessions. When there’s a fifth Tuesday in the month, we always do something a little different — from fun formats to guest speakers, including past competitors from the World Championship of Public Speaking.

What will it be like when I visit?

You’re very welcome to attend and see how a Toastmasters meeting works. Before visiting, please complete this guest visit form. We are a very friendly club - When you arrive, we’ll greet you, answer any questions and help you settle in.

There’s no obligation to speak — many guests simply observe, enjoy the atmosphere and get a feel for the experience. Some guests might have a go at a tabletopic.

Meetings start at 7:30pm.
